SARPA Scottish HFT Championships Relocated and Rescheduled

The SARPA Scottish HFT Championships will not now be held at Dechmont Air Rifle and Pistol Club on Sunday 8th August 2010. A new date and location are being arranged. Please watch the SARPA website or contact your club SARPA representative for further updates.

Cardross Game Fair 8th & 9th  May 2010

The SARPA Management Committee would like to take thank all of those (members of New Kypeside, Westfield & the 50s Shooters Club along with a few others) who gave their time over the weekend to help on the SARPA stand. The weather was good with the sun shining over both days, although Saturday was warmer than Sunday, meaning that there was a large attendance at the Game Fair.

The SARPA stand was busy with many, of all ages ‘giving it a bash’ – it was great to see each and everyone enjoy the experience and to see the kids going away proudly with their certificates [thanks to Erna and Peter for producing them].  A fair number of enquiries were made regarding clubs; the map was handy for these people to decide which one to contact, and hopefully some of these will make contact and become members.

Much interest was shown in Andy’s rifle, proudly displayed  and receiving many ooos and aahs and, as usual, disbelief that it was an airgun.  A good weekend for SARPA in all respects but impossible without the help and input, before, during and after the event so once again thanks to all our volunteers.

Competition Winners:

Saturday :  Brian Luke – Falkirk and Martin McCormick-Falkirk

Sunday:  Alex Dow-Auchterarder and Tom Smith- Toward by Dunoon

Cardross Game Fair, 8th & 9th May - Helpers Needed for Come-and-Try-Shooting Stand

It is that time of year again, and as Cardross is the only Game Fair that SARPA now attends it is our one opportunity to raise some funds and also to promote our sport and the safe use of airguns. The Game Fair will be held on Saturday and Sunday 8th & 9th of May. We need volunteers to assist with the stand over the two days. We appreciate that weekends are busy times with family and personal commitments but we need your help. Please contact the SARPA Secretary via the contact page or your club representative with details of what day(s), and whether morning or afternoon suits you to assist on the come-and-try stand. This is a valuable opportunity to attract new people into Field Target, and to promote air rifle shooting to the broader country, farming and fieldsports community, so please do take the time to help out if you can.

Westfield ARC will be holding a charity fun shoot on January 10th, 2010, starting at 11AM. This is an informal fun shoot open to all, and if you've never entered a shooting event this is the perfect opportunity to give it a try. There will be a variety of targets in the course, including conventional, standing, kneeling, sitting, long range and supported shots. Others lanes will be more unusual, for example having to swap guns with your partner, use the pistol or junior rifle provided, or a timed shot at multiple targets.

The event is open to all, and begins at 11AM.
